To ensure that your brush lasts as long as possible, maintenance is essential.
A Plisson hairbrush is an object designed to last over time. Our brushes are made from wood and natural hair - pure boar - by the best brushmaker in France.
Boar hair is known for its many benefits, particularly for absorbing and distributing sebum throughout the hair. This, in turn, leaves hair soft and shiny.
The steps to maintain a brush
Preparation
The first step is to remove hair, dandruff and residue from the brush by hand or with a wide-tooth comb. It is highly recommended to do this step after each use.
Washing
To wash your brush, run it quickly under warm water and preferably use a mild shampoo, which is best suited to removing the sebum from the fibres of your hairbrush. Then rinse thoroughly with clean water. Be careful not to use water that is too hot and not to leave your brush soaking in water.
Drying
Next is the drying stage. Dry your brush as much as possible with a clean towel. Then let your brush air dry with the fibres facing downwards. Be careful not to leave the brush on a wet surface and place it away from any heat source.
How often should I clean my hairbrush?
As mentioned earlier, it is best to remove hair and residue from the brush after each use. For the rest, it depends on several factors. In general, a monthly wash is sufficient.
If you use very moisturising products for your hair or if your hair is oily in nature then you can wash your brush more regularly, 2-3 times a month.
What precautions should I take with a wooden brush?
Plisson hairbrushes are made from natural and durable materials, so there are specific precautions to take.
Wooden handles are more sensitive to water. Even though our brushes are treated, it is advisable not to leave them in water or on a wet surface.
Finally, for safety reasons, it is best to keep your brush away from any source of heat.
You now know all the secrets of the longevity of your Plisson brush.
