The history of Plisson is part of the great tradition of French luxury. Founded in Paris in 1808, it is the oldest badger factory in the world. Napoleon used in his shaving routines our products designed to give him an unparalleled result. After the fall of the Empire, the Maison Plisson decided to keep the eagle as an emblem in tribute to Napoleon. Since 1993, the Parisian brand has moved manufacturing to the Côtes d'Armor. Faithful to its roots, Plisson continues today its development in this region.

The company is managed by Thomas and Isabelle Villeneuve. Fully anchored in Brittany, our company carries out all its activities in its Breton workshop, where each product is assembled by hand.

Since its beginnings, the Maison Plisson has cultivated the art of precise gesture and beautiful object.

I - The badgers

Plisson offers 3 natural tufts:

The Gray Russian tuft is the most accessible in our range. It is characterized by robust, firm, and energetic hairs. It is therefore not recommended for sensitive skin.
European Grey is used for its suppleness and its nervousness is great for normal skin, without particular sensitivity.
Finally, the High Mountain White which is the tuft with the softest hairs of our range in natural hair. They are the rarest and offer exceptional hair quality.

For more ethical purposes, we have developed a synthetic fiber tuft "Blanc de Haute Montagne" which is only available in size 12. It is very soft and therefore particularly suitable for sensitive skin.

Our badgers are available from size 8, perfect for shaving details to size 20. Sizes intended for finishing are, for example, 8 & 10. Size 12, classic, is recommended for facial shaving. The sizes between 14 and 20 are often intended for collection purposes or to shave the body.

The badgers of this collection are only available in size 12, with interchangeable tufts: an ingenious system that allows you to change the filling when the old one comes to the end of its use. The mechanism is very simple, just unscrew the tuft and replace it with the new filling. Moreover, everything can be done at your place!

II - The razors

Plisson offers a wide range of razors designed to adapt to all skin types and each shaving style.

La Maison Plisson offers 3 types of razors:

The Mach3 razor, composed of 3 blades easily available in all shops, offers a precise shave.
The Fusion razor, composed of 5 blades that you can also find in all shops, offers a very soft and pleasant shave.

For lovers of traditional gestures, Plisson also offers safety razors.

Safety razor with an open head: better suited for dense beards and thick hair.
Safety razor with a closed head: suitable for people with more sensitive skin or novice manual shaving users.

III - Hairbrushes

Plisson offers traditional hair brushes in stained beech from sustainably managed European forests as well as injected brushes and 100% wild boar bristle.

They facilitate the distribution of the natural sebum of the hair thanks to keratin, a natural substance present in the hair and the boar’s hair. The finishes of these hair brushes are entirely handmade in our workshops. In addition to a range of hair brushes, Plisson offers beard brushes made of natural wood and 100% wild boar bristle.

All our brushes are carefully shipped in their elegant pouch, presented in their Plisson box: a case to the extent of the craftsmanship that accompanies them.

Short hair will ideally be styled with a medium-sized brush, while long hair will appreciate more the large models, more effective to detangle without breaking the hair fiber.

If your hair is rebellious or prone to knots, prefer a bristle brush: it will facilitate untangling, especially on thick hair.

On the other hand, for fine to normal hair, a brush made from pure wild boar hair will be perfectly suited to smooth and shine without damaging the scalp.
