It is best to shave in the morning, right after showering and before breakfast: the hairs, which are mainly composed of keratin, will be softer and easier to cut, and your facial skin will be less fragile. Prepare your shaving foam by loading the shaving brush with soap or shaving cream. Using products designed to “prepare for shaving” serves two purposes: it increases hair hydration by removing its oily layer (sebum) and protects the skin from the blade. Apply the foam to your wet face using circular movements to lift the hairs. Shave in the direction of the hair growth, limiting the number of strokes with the blade to avoid irritation. If you want to make a second pass, reapply soap to your face and shave, this time against the direction of hair growth. Check the sharpness of your razor blade and replace it if it is worn. After shaving, clean the razor with warm water to remove hair and other residue (shaving cream, soap, etc.) to prevent bacteria from growing on the blades.
