It is best to shave in the morning, right after your shower and before breakfast: the hairs, which are primarily made of keratin, will be softer and easier to cut, and the skin on your face will be less fragile. Prepare your shaving foam by loading your brush with soap or shaving cream. Using so-called “pre-shave” products has a dual purpose: it increases hair hydration by removing its natural oily layer (sebum) and, at the same time, protects the skin from the blade’s friction. Apply the foam to your wet face in circular motions to lift the hairs. Shave in the direction of hair growth, minimizing the number of blade passes to avoid irritation. If you want a second pass, re-lather your face and shave, this time against the grain. Rinse your face with cool water and apply an aftershave balm to soothe and rehydrate the skin.

Check the cutting blade in your razor before each shaving and replace it if dull. After shaving, clean the razor with warm water to remove hair and other residues (shaving cream, soap, etc..), to prevent bacterial growth on the blades.
